it puts life in a whole new perspective. the father, Jewish Italian, uses his spontaneous wit to navigate his whole life. in the end he was shot by a Nazi camp guard, suffering the same fate as 6 million other Jews, but at the same time saving the life of his son. sacrifice, appreciation of life, music, nature, happiness, among other finer things. you cannot find all these in today's world, can you?
